Princess Grace Hospital (CHPG), the Principality’s only public hospital, offers a high degree of quality and safety in its care, thanks to the skills of its staff and the scope of its technical facilities.

This is evident from the accreditation awarded to the hospital “without reservations or recommendations” and a maximum grade A by the French health authority, the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS), since 2015.

The hospital, built in the hills above the Principality with a capacity of 120 beds, was officially opened in 1902. Today, it has nearly 850 beds and is able to meet the needs of Monaco’s residents, as well as those from neighbouring French communes.

In 2017, the hospital’s 275 medical staff and around 2,250 non-medical staff cared for 33,990 patients and supported 970 births. It covers 21 medical specialisms, and also has expertise in screening, a multidisciplinary medical and surgical service, an anaesthesia and resuscitation department, and a comprehensive range of technical facilities (MRI, diagnostic scanner, ultrasound, endoscopy equipment, a cardiac electrophysiology room, a surgical robot, etc.).

Princess Grace Hospital also hosts a branch of the Monaco Red Cross, incorporates the Rainier III Clinical Gerontology Centre and manages two facilities on separate sites: the Cap Fleuri geriatric care centre, located within the commune of Cap d’Ail, and A Qietüdine, a state-run retirement home at the foot of the Rocher.

In response to the technical, human, medical and scientific challenges of the twenty-first century, a decision was taken to build a new hospital.

Work on the New Princess Grace Hospital (NCHPG) therefore began in 2015.

It will have increased capacity, allowing it to cater to the needs of not only the population of Monaco, but also the residents of neighbouring areas reaching from the Italian border to Villefranche-sur-Mer, or nearly 125,000 people. Above all, however, it is the realisation of a true medical project for the future, responding to advances in medicine.

In 2022, the hospital’s 2,886 medical and non-medical staff cared for 82,000 patients and supported 861 births. It covers 21 medical specialisms, and also has expertise in screening, a multidisciplinary medical and surgical service, an anaesthesia and intensive care department, and a comprehensive range of technical facilities (MRI, diagnostic scanner, ultrasound, endoscopy equipment, a cardiac electrophysiology room, a surgical robot, etc.).

Monegasque doctors have access to the latest generation surgical robots and, since late 2022, to a cardiac surgery facility equipped with artificial intelligence.
