The Monaco Red Cross, which was founded by Prince Louis II in 1948 and currently has Prince Albert II as its President, takes action internationally to help the victims of natural disasters, armed conflicts or population displacements. It is also active in the Principality.

The Monaco Red Cross regularly responds to appeals launched by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to help populations experiencing particularly difficult situations.

In 2022, the Monaco Red Cross allocated nearly €563,652 in international aid. In addition, the appeal for donations made when the war started in Ukraine raised 1.84 million euros.

Locally, the Monaco Red Cross’ social action team provides emotional, psychological and financial support to people who are vulnerable as a result of economic poverty, disability or social isolation.
The beneficiaries are residents of the Principality of Monaco or a neighbouring commune, or sometimes people from further afield if the situation is urgent or extremely critical.

The first aid team bases its activities around two major strands: first aid and training.

This allows it to implement the recent strategy on First Aid and Emergency Care developed at the request of the Prince’s Government in partnership with the Monaco Fire and Emergency Service, Princess Grace Hospital and the Department of Health Affairs.

A forward-looking section, Pôle Avenir, was created in 2016 and aims to strengthen and coordinate activities for young people.

Every year, the famous Red Cross Gala is held to raise money for the Monaco Red Cross. It is attended by the Royal Family and numerous personalities.
