Creating a new balance between humans and nature as we emerge from the coronavirus crisis is the aim behind a new appeal launched by Prince Albert II of Monaco.

To mark the fiftieth Earth Day on 22 April, Prince Albert II launched an appeal for action: “In the face of the environmental threat, we must be capable of making the same efforts and, above all, of showing the same responsibility and the same solidarity in the fight against climate change as we have in the battle against the coronavirus. (…) This crisis must prompt us to do a better job of protecting our planet.”

Alongside this message of hope issued by the Sovereign, the Prince Albert II Foundation has launched the digital “A Green Shift?” campaign, which allows artists, scientists, environmental activists, entrepreneurs and policymakers from all over the world to have their say. In short videos posted by the Foundation, each is invited to share their thoughts on the link between the environment and the pandemic, on the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, and on what might happen once it is over.

Established in 2006, the Prince Albert II Foundation works to protect the environment and advocates a collective response to global challenges.
