Lamborghini unveiled its latest concept car, the V12 Vision Gran Turismo, during the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Championship World Finals held in Monaco from 22 to 24 November.

While this model is not destined to grace the roads, or even the racetracks, it will be available in Gran Turismo Sport on the PlayStation 4 from next spring.

The Vision programme, introduced in 2013 during the Gran Turismo 6 era, allows automotive designers to give free rein to their creativity in the simulators of the famous racing franchise, which was launched on PlayStation 22 years ago.

Conceived by Lamborghini Centro Stile in Bologna, Italy, this virtual Lamborghini – though the prototype is absolutely real – uses the powertrain from the Lamborghini Sian FKP 37.

The designers from the company behind the bull logo have given the car an exclusive look, with a wide aerofoil featuring Y-shaped rear lights. Drivers enter the cockpit from the front, as they would a fighter plane, and the main controls are located on the futuristic steering wheel, with information projected directly into the driver’s field of vision.

The top part of the steering wheel has been cut out, and screens display all information between the two ends. The small windscreen displays speed, lap time and a large rev counter. Touches of green and red – the unmistakable signature colours of the Italian team – are also evident throughout the cockpit.

With the car’s single seat, sharp lines and ultra-futuristic interior design, the driver might easily feel that they’re in a spacecraft straight from a science fiction movie.

Lamborghini is a very young brand, and that’s why we’ve come here to present our new virtual vision in the form of a real-life model, with a highly futuristic design which is popular with the young generation of racing game and sports car fans.
