It was as a tribute to his wife, Princess Grace, that Prince Rainier III launched, in the early 1960s, what would go on to become a meeting point for the television industry: the Monte-Carlo Television Festival.
Since then, global stars, actors, producers, directors and screenwriters, as well as studio, TV channel and streaming platform executives from all over the world have come together every year at the various events organised by Monaco Mediax. Each edition of the Monegasque festival features series launches, preview screenings, conferences, VIP meetings, signing sessions, and more.
The Monte-Carlo Television Festival is one of those rare events that make up the international audiovisual landscape. It is the longest-running event in the global television industry (…) It has expanded to give studios and productions the space that they deserve, welcome digital platforms and open itself up to the general public.

Under the honorary presidency of Prince Albert II, the Monte-Carlo Television Festival rewards the best television programmes from all over the world in the categories of fiction and news. The jury of industry professionals awards the Golden Nymphs. The statuettes are a copy of the Nymphe de Salmacis by Monegasque artist François-Joseph Bosio, who was chief sculptor to France’s King Louis XVIII (the original sculpture is on display at the Louvre in Paris).
Winners have included Eva Longoria, Jason Priesley, Jane Seymour, Kyle Maclachlan and Patricia Arquette.
Created at the request of Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Prince Rainier III Prize is awarded in partnership with the Prince Albert II Foundation to the documentary offering the best coverage of environmental issues. Special prizes are also awarded by the festival’s partner organisations, including the Monaco Red Cross and AMADE.
To celebrate de 10 last editions of the TV Festival, 10 former presidents of the event were invited in 2022. 7 of them came : Eric Close, Danny Glover, Michael Hirst, Jason Priestley, Jane Seymour, Ron Perlman and Ricky Whittle.
In 2025, the closing ceremony honors the television career of actress, producer and director Robin Wright (Santa Barbara, House of Cards, Forrest Gulp). French actor Pierre Arditi received a Crystal Nymph for lifetime achievement in television, while Jaz Sinclair was awarded the Golden Nymph for Best International Newcomer.
The first Digital Prize was awarded to content producer Squeezie (over 19 million subscribers on YouTube).
