As part of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted in 2015, the Principality’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) policy has made human development and the fight against poverty its priorities.

Every year, the Monegasque Cooperation finances more than 150 projects. The most vulnerable populations are at the heart of the International Cooperation Department’s targets: children, women, people with disabilities, refugees…

Since 2015, Monegasque official development assistance has been growing steadily (€58.3m over the 2018-2020 period, €74m over the 2022-2024 period).

Particular attention is also paid to emergency humanitarian aid, delivered in response to various crises around the world, natural disasters and political conflicts.

The Monegasque Cooperation’s actions focus on a number of areas: health (combating mortality among women, children and adolescents, combating communicable and non-communicable diseases, capacity-building for healthcare players) and food and nutritional security (combating malnutrition, particularly among women and children, strengthening family farming and sustainable supply chains).

The Government of Monaco’s official development assistance also covers projects linked to education and child protection (inclusive, quality education for the most disadvantaged children) and access to decent work (employability and vocational training, entrepreneurship and local economic development).

DCI operates in 3 geographical zones and 11 partner countries: West Africa (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Senegal), Southern and East Africa (South Africa, Burundi, Madagascar) and North Africa/Mediterranean (Lebanon, Morocco, Mauritania, Tunisia).
