Monegasque diplomacy: multilateralism and sustainable development

Led by Prince Albert II, Monaco’s presence on the world stage is guided by the promotion of universal values.

In accordance with the Principality’s institutions, responsibility for Monaco’s international presence lies with the Sovereign Prince, who represents the Principality in its relations with foreign powers.

Through his numerous international trips and participation in a variety of multilateral meetings, Prince Albert II today ensures that Monaco’s voice is heard on many subjects, particularly those linked to sustainable development, the energy transition and the fight against climate change, safeguarding biodiversity, ocean conservation, human rights and development.

Equally, Monaco has for some years pursued a proactive policy of signing agreements on exchanging tax information, which means that it no longer appears on any black or grey lists of countries deemed non-cooperative on tax matters.

Monaco is also a founding member of the International Organisation of La Francophonie.
