“More than 50 years ago, my mother, who had been particularly moved by the tragedy experienced by the children of Vietnam, decided to take action to protect children. This impulse led to the founding of the Association Mondiale des Amis de l’Enfance (the World Association of Children’s Friends),” says Princess Caroline of Hanover, who has taken over her mother’s role as President of the NGO.
Since then, AMADE has undertaken many actions on the ground in developing countries. Its flagship programmes include efforts to reintegrate child soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo or to support Syrian refugee children through Time to Act in partnership with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
